HISTORY
The scientific base for the commercial activities in LAURAS was developed from 1996-1997 at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry, University of Oslo, and at the Department of Clinical Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Norwegian National Hospital, with which LAURAS co-operates closely.
LAURAS was formally registered in October 1998. During 1999 and 2000 the company secured and strengthened proprietary rights, and formed alliances with strategic partners. In 2000 The Norwegian Research Council (NFR), The Norwegian Industrial and Regional Developmental Fund (SND) and private investors committed the first capital to participate in global patent protection and the preparation for later preclinical and clinical development of LAURAS's products. CEO and VP R&D were hired in January 2001.
A single center phase II study on drugs affecting the immune response on T cell immune function was completed in 2002. A long term phase II study was initiated in 2003 and completed in 2004. A third (researcher-initiated) phase II study on patients pre-HAART is now starting.
